While browsing through Facebook a few weeks ago, I came across an ad for an app called Nanogram. The concept immediately caught my attention.
Nanogram lets you play vertical format mobile games instantly while scrolling through a feed, similar to how you browse social media. If you want to find a new game, you simply scroll to the next one.
You can also like and share games, check a top 10 leaderboard for the most liked games daily, weekly, and all time, and even remix games created by other players.
Remixing allows you to take an existing game template and turn it into your own version.
Although the games are fairly simple with basic graphics, Nanogram can be a fun way to burn some time. After playing for a while, however, many games start to feel repetitive and some are unfortunately unplayable.
Still, it is a pretty cool concept that is worth trying.

Highway: A top view highway chase game where you avoid cars and police vehicles while collecting power ups like shields and guns.
Nano Jumper: A platform jumping game similar to Doodle Jump where you climb platforms while avoiding obstacles and disappearing platforms.
The Maw: A giant deathworm tries to eat you and you must survive as long as possible. The gameplay reminds me of Undertale.
Mochi Pop: Pop specific pattern sets of cute mochi balls each level before the time runs out
Neon Runner: A short platform runner where you navigate levels and try to reach the exit.
How to Make Games on Nanogram
One of the most interesting features of Nanogram is that games are generated using AI.
You do not need to know how to code. As long as you can describe the game you want to create using a prompt and choose the right template, the AI will generate the game for you.
However, there is one requirement.
You must have a Discord account.
After joining their Discord server, you will see three teams that create games: elec (electric), fire, and ice team who make games. You must join one of these teams before you can create your own games.
Unfortunately, joining a team can be a bit inconvenient. You have to message a team member so they can manually add you. I tried twice through both direct messages and general chat. They said okay but I never actually got added to a team.
Once you are in a team, you can remix games directly from the Nanogram app or from the Discord server. All games are reviewed by an admin before they appear in the app.
Features I Wish Existed
While Nanogram has a great concept, there are several features I wish existed in the app.
1. Save or Archive Feature
Liking a game does not actually save it.
The only real way to keep a game for later is to share the link or save the link like sending it to yourself in a chat, which is inconvenient. A simple save or bookmark feature would make this much easier.
2. Comment Feature
It would be great if players could comment directly on games. This would help players give feedback, discuss strategies, or just interact with the community.
Sometimes the controls for the games would be unpressable since they will be covered by the like, share, and remix button which makes some games unplayable.
3. Search and Game Genres
I came across a variety of games from casual, racing, platform runner, 3D games, text-based sim games, mini-RPG games and even a horror game. Being able to search and filter games based on these genre can make finding games easier.
A search function and genre filter would make it much easier to find the type of game you want
4. Profile Feature
Being able to view other players’ profiles would be great. This could allow users to see:
• Games they created
• Games they liked
• Their most popular games
This would help build the community.
5. Game Reporting System
A built in reporting feature would allow users to report games for bugs or inappropriate content. This could help reduce glitchy or broken games.
Sometimes gameplay buttons are blocked by the like, share, or remix buttons, which makes certain games impossible to play.
Discord Integration Could Be Better
Technically some of these features already exist, but they are located in the Nanogram Discord server instead of inside the app.
For example, you can:
• Comment on games
• Check game creators
• Report issues
But doing this requires navigating Discord channels, which feels manual and inconvenient.
If Nanogram integrated these features directly into the app, the experience would be much smoother.
Final Thoughts and Overall Review
Based on my estimate, there are currently around 200 to 300 games available on Nanogram.
You may occasionally see the same games multiple times in your feed. Some games feel broken or unplayable because UI buttons block gameplay controls. After playing for a while, the games also start to feel repetitive since many follow similar templates.
Despite these issues, the concept behind Nanogram is very interesting. The idea of AI generated games that you can scroll through like social media has a lot of potential.
My overall rating for Nanogram would be 6.5 out of 10.
The app has a lot of potential, but many games feel clunky and there are several missing features. Still, I understand what the developers are trying to build and the kind of community they want around user generated games.
With more features and improvements, Nanogram could become a very interesting platform for casual mobile games.
