Eatshimo: Free Open Source Calorie Tracker for Web and App Download (2026)
Eatshimo is a lightweight, privacy-focused, and free open-source software (FOSS) calorie and fitness tracker built as a progressive web app (PWA). It stores all your data locally on your device, with no ads, no subscriptions, no tracking, and no unnecessary features.
It is designed to be simple, fast, and straightforward for people who just want a clean calorie tracking experience without the complexity of modern fitness apps.

What is Eatshimo?
Eatshimo is a personal project I built because I could not find a calorie tracking app that fit my needs.
Most existing calorie apps are either:
- Ad-heavy
- Locked behind subscriptions
- Overcomplicated with unnecessary features
- Rely on inaccurate community food databases that you cannot edit
So I decided to build something simpler.
This was basically a “fine, I’ll do it myself” project.
I wanted:
- A clean calorie tracker
- Full control over my data
- No ads or paywalls
- Offline-first functionality
- Simple and fast tracking
- Be able to edit food libraries without creating new food or relying on community databases.
Developing Eatshimo has also been a great learning experience, especially with modern development tools and AI-assisted coding making development faster and more accessible.
I plan to continue building more open-source, privacy-focused tools like this in the future.
Open Source Project
Eatshimo is open-source and licensed under MIT. You can view, modify, and contribute to the project through its GitHub repository.
Final Thoughts
This project is something I built for myself first, and I’m simply sharing it in case it helps someone else.
If you have feature suggestions or feedback, feel free to leave a comment. If not, you are also welcome to build upon the codebase and improve it!
